Method

Playground Wire reads what governments already post for the public. That is the whole trick, and the whole limit.

What we read

  • School-board agendas, board packets, and facilities-committee materials posted on district sites
  • Parks and recreation commission / park-district board agendas, work sessions, and capital-improvement lists
  • City council consent items that name a playground, splash pad, shade structure, or park play area
  • Meeting notices required by open-meetings law

If it is not posted for the public, it is not in the brief. Sources are government. Not contractors. Not reps.

What we look for

Mentions of playgrounds, play structures, play equipment, safety surfacing (pour-in-place, engineered wood fiber, rubber tile), splash pads and spraygrounds, shade structures over play areas, and capital set-asides for a park play area.

What we do not scrape

We are not a bid-network scraper. We do not scrape BidNet. We do not scrape DemandStar. We do not scrape Dodge, ConstructConnect, or similar bid mills. Those rooms are bid-stage. This brief is agenda-stage: the packet, the workshop, the first reading — before purchasing posts an ITB.

Cadence

Compiled against packets posted through Sunday. Dated Monday. Regional: the geography a dealer actually runs, not a national dump of every RFP.
